the team’s previous game, hades’ star, is based on an extremely dark UI. as a visual departure and to increase legibility, the team asked me to experiment with a mid-to-light colored UI for battleship apollo.
i ran through a number of tests to determine what color palette would remain high-contrast and legible on a player’s phone even when viewed outdoors in bright light.
in addition to providing new UI colors and design direction, i created a design system of buttons, navigational icons, module rarity frames, and more.
